Ache is about the moment just before something loved leaves forever.

Not the loss itself, and not the grief that follows, but that suspended instant when presence is still there and already beginning to recede. Time seems to thin.

The painting captures that moment and holds it still. Forms soften, dissolve, and drift from view, caught between presence and disappearance. There is an expansiveness to the loss, a sense of something opening into a space too vast to measure. And yet, within that vastness, there is also peace—a quiet surrender, as if the leaving belongs to something larger than grief.

Ache lives in that final fraction of time—when something deeply loved is still here, and you can already feel the distance beginning.
