The Quiet Taking is rooted in the contradiction of autumn—when leaves become most vivid at the very moment they are beginning to die.

Color gathers in flashes, caught briefly in the cold wind before being loosened and carried away. The painting holds that tension between beauty and disappearance, between what is still here and what has already begun to leave. There is no single moment of loss, only a gradual surrender.

What is being taken is not dramatic. It happens quietly, almost beautifully, until what once felt abundant is gone.
